LAND'S END
A Coastal Journey Around Victoria's Peninsulas
This 2007
series continues the trend set by the 'Back To Front' series,
focusing on Victoria's coastline. This time however,
rather than just concentrating on the Mornington Peninsula, I
have traveled around the Bellarine Peninsula on the western
side of Port Phillip Bay.
Although the Bellarine's coastline isn't quite as diverse as
it's eastern sister, it still packs an impressive variety of
features and locations starting from Geelong - right around to
Breamlea. The light is surprisingly different here too,
as the clouds are generally more scattered and only thicken up
as they cross the waters of the bay. This means that
while the Mornington Peninsula can be experiencing overcast
conditions, the Bellarine can have few or no clouds.
On the Mornington side, I have been fortunate to not only
discover new places, but also to finally capture popular
features in stunning light. Due
to the normally windy conditions one would experience around
the southern coast, the opportunity to capture a thick fog in
this area was no less than a blessing. It was amazing to
stand on the beach at the Bay of Islands and watch as they
virtually disappeared in the distance behind thick clouds of
fog in unnaturally still conditions.
As always, I have totally enjoyed shooting this series.
I love our Victorian coastline - it is so diverse, and
bringing these places to you is just as wonderful. I hope that
you enjoy my new series for 2007; "Land's End" and I
highly recommend that you take the time one day to head down
to these peninsulas and discover places that capture your
imagination.
Thankyou,
and I hope you enjoy the journey...
