Sphinx Rock
- Back To Front: The Coastline of the
Mornington Peninsula
Location:
Mornington Peninsula
Date
Released: February 2005
For those who don't enjoy flying,
you can feel comforted knowing
that you'll never need to go to Egypt
if you want to see the pyramids or
the sphinx as we have our very own
right here in Victoria.
Philip Island has 'Pyramid Rock'
and Sorrento has 'Sphinx
Rock'. Standing proud and
looking out to sea, this formation
is just a short walk from the
Sorrento back beach. The
onslaught of waves have carved
many interesting rock pools
through the solid platform that
makes up this area of the coast,
each with their own mini
eco-system. At low tide this
is a wonderful place to go for a
walk along the rocks at sunset.
